Digital Catapult are sponsoring and hosting WEAR Sustain’s London Launch event on Wednesday 3rd May. Delegates will hear from speakers including Anne Prahl, an independent designer who specialises in design for sustainability; Ed Gillespie, the founder of communications agency Futerra Consultancy and Professor Martin Charter, Director of The Centre for Sustainable Design & Professor at University for the Creative Arts.
During the afternoon, breakout groups will also discuss issues and constraints around the life-cycle of design, innovation, development, manufacturing, distribution and waste management for wearable technologies and smart textiles and how to get around these.
In the evening Camille Baker from University for the Creative Arts and Rachel Lasebikan from Queen Mary University of London will launch the WEAR Sustain Open Call for collaborative funding, ahead of a networking event designed to connect people from the creative and tech industries – including designers, artists, technologists and engineers – to co-create an application for WEAR Sustain funding.
