WEAR Sustain Newsletter – August 2017

WEAR Sustain Newsletter August 2017

It has been a busy month for WEAR Sustain as the 23 Awarded Teams from Open Call 1 begin working on their projects and meeting with their mentors and hubs.

You can view all the teams and find out more about them on our website.

WEAR Sustain Induction Day

During July we were delighted to welcome all the awarded teams to the offices of IMEC in Brussels where different teams were able to meet for the first time and share experiences as well as find out more details about the logistics of the WEAR Sustain project.

You can read a report of the event at http://legacy.wearsustain.eu/2017/07/21/induction-day

Who are WEAR Sustain Mentors?

In the previous newsletter we looked at what a WEAR Sustain Hub is. This month we are looking at the role of the WEAR Sustain Mentors.

Mentors are a key part of the WEAR Sustain network, and crucial in helping the awarded projects to develop over the course of their funding. Each selected team is allocated a mentor who can advise and practically support the selected teams in their field of expertise. When we recruit mentors we look for specific skill sets that will bring additional value to the projects and the wider community.

You can find out more about the role of WEAR Sustain Mentors and how to get involved here.

Neo-Materials in the Circular Economy – Fashion

WEAR Sustain consortium partner Blumine Srl has released a new book ‘Neo-materials in the Circular economy – Fashion’, edited by Marco Ricchetti in collaboration with Sustainability-Lab (part of Blumine Srl). The book provides a useful overview of changes occurring in the global economy, starting from the analysis of materials, divided into three large areas (renewable, non-renewable and recycled).
